Call for Volunteers for the Spring Festival

If you haven’t yet had a chance to volunteer for a school council organized event this is your chance!

No pre-meetings necessary – just show up ready to man a game station, paint some faces, sell some tickets or BBQ!

Pick a 30min time slot (or two!) of your choice at our fancy electronic volunteer page.

Thanks to all the staff members and volunteers that have already so generously signed up to volunteer – we couldn’t do it without you!

Let’s get rolling for Bike to School Week!

See below for some important information from Ms. Dew, Ms. Nishimoto, Ms. Davies & Mr. Bush regarding bike to school week.

Bike to School Week

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Spring is here, bringing warmer weather and longer days. It’s a great time of year to walk, bike or roll to school. Using these modes of active transportation helps to reduce congestion, improve air quality and promote health. Students who travel to school actively arrive at school more alert, focused and ready to learn.

For these reasons, Earl Haig P.S. is participating in Bike to School Week! We invite your child to participate.

Kindergarten – Monday May 29th, 9:00 – 11:40 am (Boyd, Diez, Long, Graf, Wheeler, Tamkei)

Grade 1 – Tuesday, May 30th, 9:00 – 10:10 am (Bush, Dew, Davies, Nishimoto)

Grade 2 – Tuesday, May 30th, 10:25 – 11:40 am (Vlachos, Kiosederis, Collins)

Grade 3 – Tuesday, May 30th, 12:40 – 2:00 pm (Sanderson, Currie-Sinclair)

Grade 4/5 – Tuesday, May 30th, 2:10 – 3:10 pm (Lang, Kavanagh, Aspinwall)

Grade 5, 6, 7, 8 – Dates/location TBA

Students are encouraged to bring bikes and wear a helmet to school. Students can lock their bikes up to a fence (primary students in the primary yard, junior students in the junior yard, kindergarten students, in the kindergarten yard). Parents please make sure that your child knows the combination of their lock (parents write down the combination on a piece of paper for your child).

Contests:

Bike Parade – Each grade will have a bike parade. The student with the most creatively decorated bike will win a prize. This year, helmets and bells were purchased by Bike Brampton through Ministry of Transportation funding and donated to school boards across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

By participating, students will increase our school’s chance to win a free bike rack!

Bike to School Week is a celebration of cycling and active transportation. Schools, public health offices, municipalities and regions across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area are coordinating activities focused on Bike to School Week, to promote and support cycling to school.

Sincerely,

Ms. Dew, Ms. Nishimoto, Ms. Davies & Mr. Bush
