Virtual school families connect (virtually, of course!)

Are any of the Earl Haig students in your life doing virtual learning this year? Connect with other families to help navigate this unprecedented school year in a Facebook group organized by the SAC’s Virtual Class Rep, Jen Barnes.

If you’re not on Facebook but would still like to be connected to Earl Haig virtual school families, please send Jen an email and she can keep you in the loop.

Donations for Our Outerwear Lending Library

We’ve had a great run of weather this fall, but it looks like that forecast is starting to change. With rain for most of this week and temperatures starting to drop, let’s help keep our EH students’ spirits high by keeping them dry and warm this fall/winter.

Can you donate new or gently used (and CLEAN) items to our parent/caregiver led Outerwear Lending Library? We are looking for rain pants, snow pants, coats, and all the accessories needed to keep kids warm while they have extended time outdoors this year. Donations can be dropped off to a bin by the front door of 89 Hanson Street this week (October 19-23). ** Larger sizes (grades 3-8) are most needed **

For any families that would like to make use of our (free!) Outerwear Lending Library, please email us or contact Acting Principal Upeslacis or Vice Principal Landry.

Elections may be over, but there are still ways to participate in our School Advocacy Council. We are still on the lookout for someone to fill our Junior Grade Rep position (minimal time commitment) to help ensure we are communicating with and hearing from parents/caregivers for all of our students. If you’re interested in this role, please email us. We will also be reaching out to our community throughout the school year for help as we strive to ensure all of our students have a safe and fulfilling year.

Next meeting

We hope you’ll join us at our next SAC meeting on Zoom (Tuesday, October 20th at 7:00pm). We had a record-breaking turnout for our September meeting and we had some great discussions on how to support our school community in the year ahead. All parents/caregivers are welcome to join the call and you absolutely don’t need to be part of the executive. Hope to see you in the Zoom grid next week!
