A reminder that Earl Haig PS will be collecting non-perishable food items until the end of this week (Friday, October 22nd) to help one of our local food banks, Glen Rhodes Food Bank. If you are able to, please consider sending your child to school with non-perishable food items and help people in our community who are experiencing food insecurity.

Here are a few examples of food and other items that are most needed:

• baby food (as well as diapers)
• peanut butter
• canned meats and fish
• pasta
• sauces
• beans
• soups
• pet food
• socks
• personal hygiene products

We hope everyone is enjoying these lovely second summer days. It’s hard to believe we are a month into school already, but alas, we are, and cooler weather is coming.

Please join us on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 7:00pm for our next SAC meeting. Here is the agenda, but, truly, the big ticket item is that we will hold our annual elections for executive positions. If you’re considering throwing your hat into the ring for any of the roles, please do! Filling executive positions on council helps us to do more collectively to contribute to our school and community and ensures we are effectively representing our parent and caregiver community. You can find more info on our executive positions here and the link to the online nomination form is here. Please try to submit your nomination form by end of day Sunday, October 17th. (If you filled out a form prior to our meeting last month, no need to redo.)

Reminder! Our first SAC meeting of the year is tomorrow evening at 7pm. (see the Zoom details below)

Unfortunately, time got away from us and because of a slight process mixup, executive elections will need to be held at our October meeting instead. If you’ve already submitted your nomination form for a role on this year’s council, not to worry, those nominations are good and will be brought forward for the October meeting. If you held off on submitting a form because you weren’t 100% yet, this delay is great news because you can join us at our meeting tomorrow night, where you’ll see that we’re a pretty easygoing bunch and that your contribution matters, and then you can go fill out that nomination form!
