Welcome Back + Join Us!

We hope everyone is settling back into school nicely. It is so wonderful to see the schoolyard buzzing with activity and masked smiles after such a long absence from it!

As the pandemic continues to affect our school routines and experiences, families, teachers and staff coming together to ensure a safe, happy, and caring environment for our students continues to be a top priority.

…and that’s where the School Advisory Council comes in.

You do not have to take on an official role with the SAC to join our meetings. Whether your child is learning in the classroom or taking classes online you are part of the Earl Haig family. Your input matters and can affect real change for our school community as we work with the administration and teacher representatives to discuss issues like facilities, student concerns, special events, and equity issues.

Our first meeting of the school year will be held via Zoom on Wednesday, September 29th from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Please join us!

Become a member of the 2021/2022 Earl Haig School Advisory Council

You don’t need to be on the Council to attend meetings: everyone is welcome! However, Council does require some executive roles to be filled every school year and those roles are always chosen at the September meeting.

You can read more about our elected council roles here. Executives should plan to attend the majority of Council meetings. We meet most months (usually skipping December and March) alternating between Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

If you are interested in an elected role or would like to nominate someone else, please submit a nomination form by end of day Monday, September 27th and tune into our meeting on Wednesday!

If you have any questions about council please send us an email.

Another Virtual End to School, but With Vaccines this Time

First off, we want to say congrats & farewell to our Grade 8 grads and Grade 5 French Immersion students! Our entire school community is so proud of you all and we KNOW you will do incredible things in your new education adventures.

To all of our Earl Haig children, families, staff, and educators: this school year has been another doozy! Our community experienced a number of exhausting and stressful challenges this year but we’ve made it to the end of the school year stronger (even if your arm hurts a little right now) and perhaps more connected than ever. We will walk into September with a permanent Principal (congrats Eleni Burke-Tsakmakas!), a new Vice Principal (farewell Lizz Landry and welcome Jackilyn Wallace!), perhaps a little long-awaited playground construction, and a strengthened resolve to keep our students safe and engaged.

We hope everyone has a restful and joyful summer and we look forward to seeing all your faces in person in September!
