Our Earl Haig P.S. cross country running team is at it again! Many of our students, in grades 1 through 8, can be found lacing up their running shoes at the school track most mornings to get ready for the big meet down at Ashbridge’s Bay on October 4th.

Hello everyone!

Please take note of the date change for our first school council meeting of the year. We are now going to meet on Thursday, September 20th, from 7:00-8:30, in the music room. (Childcare will be provided)

If you are interested in an elected role, please fill out the self-nomination form that was sent home in backpacks earlier this week and bring it with you to our first meeting.

In addition to Executive Council roles, there are many other ways parents and caregivers can help – snack/lunch program volunteers, bakers, event support, and so much more!

This year, we will also be kicking our playground revitalization project into high gear. PLAY EH! will need team members – especially those with experience in writing grant proposal, communications, and fundraising. If you are interested, we will be collecting names at our meeting next week.

It’s going to be a busy and exciting year. Hope to see you as we kick it all off on the 20th!

For those new to the school, this blog, along with the twitter account @EarlHaigCouncil, Facebook page and Earl Haig School Calendar are run by volunteer efforts of the School Council. Our Facebook page is updated with the most frequency but also be sure to sign up to receive our blog posts in your email inbox so that you never miss a thing.

Welcome Coffee

It was great to see so many of you out at our coffee meet and greet on the first day of school. We are so sorry we ran out of coffee but we hope we at least helped some of you caffeinate properly for your morning!

School Council: We’d love to have you join us!

If you’re not familiar with the School Council, we are the parent/caregiver group that organizes and runs events throughout the year to bolster community spirit and raise funds. We meet most months (skipping December and March) with the administration and teacher representatives to discuss issues like facilities, extra-curricular clubs/teams, student concerns, special events, and academic issues.

You don’t need to be on the council to attend and everyone is welcome! (Childcare is provided in the Kindergarten room)

Our first school council meeting is taking place on (NEW DATE!) Thursday, September 20th, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM in the Music Room and we look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting newcomers. It’s a big night, as we will be holding elections for the 2018-2019 School Council. If you are interested in joining the executive team, take a look to see what positions we have. If you’re not interested in joining the executive, you are absolutely still welcome to join our meetings each month and there are volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

School Menus

Lastly, we’ve added a new page on the blog for menus for our fantastic hot lunch and snack program. Be careful, though – because looking at these menus for too long is almost guaranteed to make your stomach rumble. Menus will be updated as they are made available.
