Things are picking up speed as the end of the school year approaches. The School Council has many events in the next few weeks to let you know about, starting with tomorrow night’s School Council meeting from 7 – 8:30. The meeting will be held in the Music Room in the basement and free childcare is provided.

The agenda includes: Robotics and the new Parent Tech Subcommittee,  Spring Festival, Parents Reaching Out Night with speaker Dona Matthews on June 9 and an update from the school.  Hope to see you there!

What are Robotics? Here is a quick intro to the topic. On Friday May 13, the first ever Earl Haig Robotics kits were broken open by some very eager students.  We were lucky to have Annika Pint, FIRST Robotics Administrator join us to demo what our new EV3 Robots could do.  In the early spring, 5 EV3 Lego Mindstorms robotics kits were purchased using the School Council funds that have been raised through various fundraising initiatives (think pumpkin patch, bottle drive and last year’s spring festival).  Thanks to our incredible community for bringing some robotic magic to Earl Haig. We will need some parent support to keep these robots moving, so please stay tuned to learn how you can help out with this exciting new project. Stay Tuned for more information or come out to the School Council meeting!

Marlies Ticket Pick Up and Post-Game Skate information

Tomorrow is the Marlies event, and though the ticket pick-up information was sent home in backpacks this week, we are double-blasting everyone just in case.

The event takes place at Ricoh Coliseum; game time is 5 pm.  Pick up your tickets there, from 3:30 on, and the Marlies have lots of fun activities to do before heading in to the arena.

Also attached are the adult and child waivers, and instructions for the post-game skate. Children under 12 must wear a helmet.

See you there.

Anti-Bullying: Wear Pink Day:
pinkday
On Wednesday April 13 students are invited to wear pink, or red, to raise awareness and take a stand against bullying, homophobia and transphobia.

Clean, Dry Milk Bags Needed:  (the one that is the outside bag of the three bags of milk). Please save and pass along your exterior milk bags to Ms. Sanderson’s grade 3 class. The class will be using the milk bags to make sleeping mats for people who find themselves sleeping on the streets of our city. We need 500 plus bags for one mat. Milk bags need to be stored flat. This will help with the cutting when the time comes. One of our families is making weaving frames that can be passed from class to class so all who want to participate can. Thank you for our help.

Movie Night Report: They Found Nemo!
Through trials and tribulations, including some problems with light and sound, a good-sized crowd stuck it out with Marlin and Dory on Friday, April 1. Everyone was delighted when Nemo was finally found.
Congratulations to prize pack winners!  And, thanks to the committee of Andria Keen, Nicole Lamb, Tamara Robertson and Andrea Szego for pulling the event together. Most of all, thank you to everyone who came out to munch popcorn, veggies and pizza and enjoy the show!

Coming Up:
Just a reminder that school April 15 is a PA Day.
