Community Festival a Huge Success
We are waiting for all the last expense receipts to be handed in, but thank you to everyone for another fantastic Earl Haig Festival! The weather was amazing, the events were a hit, everyone had a blast. We hear the Festival raised more than the previous year.
None of this would succeed without the planning committee, which started working months ago, the participation of the staff, and all the students and parents and guardians who came out on a Thursday evening to have a lot of fun in the school yard! Click here for photos!
School Play Day
Wednesday June 17 is the School Play Day. Juniors and Intermediates will be cutting loose in the school yard in the morning, and the FDK and Primary students will have their fun in the sun in the afternoon. Please make sure your child is slathered in sunscreen, and has a hat and water bottle, as well as appropriate footwear for running, jumping, and whatever else the Intermediate students and teachers have up their sleeves.

As the school year draws to a close we want to thank every member of the school community who has donated their time by unloading pumpkins at 6 a.m., baking cupcakes, making display boards for magazine sales, contacting businesses for donations, and any other activity required for our fundraising activities.

Team Thatcher
Thatcher is a student in Ms. Petropoulos’s Full Day Kindergarten Class. Thatcher has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and has been out of school receiving treatment at Sick Kids.These bravery beads belong to Thatcher – he gets a bead for every holiday spent in hospital, and for procedures such as chemotherapy, having blood drawn, or other tests and procedures.
Join Team Thatcher and run or walk 1km with them on June 21st (yes, it’s Father’s Day but the event is at 9 a.m.) to raise money for cancer research at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Can’t join them? Consider sponsoring the team. Sign up details here:

Other ways you can help:
1. Avoid sending really ill children to school (Not the green runny nose that lasts for weeks, but anything which will really affect an already compromised immune system).
2. For the adults – Donate blood and register with OneMatch Stem Cell Network. The health care system relies on blood, plasma and platelet donations.
3. Educate yourself and your children – A diagnosis of cancer, while serious and frightening, does not necessarily mean incurable.
4. Inform the school if anyone in your family has a cancer diagnosis or new serious chronic illness. The teachers and support staff are with your child for 8 hours a day and can offer support and insight into how your child is coping.

Donna Quan’s Letter Home
If you have not seen this letter yet, as a result of work action, there will be no report cards issued within the TDSB this school year. Students will receive a letter regarding their placement for the next year. If you have any questions please contact Ms. Ellis directly.
