We know there is a lot going on right now (in the world, and in our school). We are all working together to create the best and safest in-person learning environment we can, and providing nutritious and delicious food for our students is one thing we can control and contribute to right now.
With health and safety of our students our top priority this year, we have decided to pivot the way we serve food. We are re-launching the nutrition program Monday, October 5th. To start, we are offering a morning snack to all students. The snacks will be individually wrapped and prepared in the school by our amazing chefs, Silvia and Shazia, following Toronto Public Health COVID-19 and nutrition guidelines for student nutrition programs.
For parents and caregivers that are interested in having their children receive the morning snack, please fill out this form and return it to your child’s teacher by tomorrow, Wednesday, September 30th. You can either fill it in electronically (the PDF should have editable fields) and email it to your child’s teacher or you can print it, fill it in by hand and send it to school tomorrow morning. We understand it is short notice but revamping the nutrition program so quickly has been quite an undertaking and we are trying to get this program up and running as soon as possible.
At this time we are not asking for donations to participate. Although, if you would like to contribute to our nutrition program you can donate online (choose 2 – Student Nutrition Programs under the Fund option and enter Earl Haig Public School in the message box).
The nutrition program committee would like to hear from you. In the coming months we may offer a cold lunch if families are interested. The lunches would be delivered to the classes alongside the snack. If you would like to see this at our school or have suggestions, please email: EarlHaigPS.StudentNutrition@gmail.com.
