Hats, Mitts, Tees, and a Missing Boot

Outerwear lending library

Winter is coming and our outerwear lending library is organized, labelled and fully running within our school! We want to give a big thank you to everyone who contributed to our first round of donations last month.

The priority of the library is to permanently outfit any student in need of outerwear and to lend items to students when their clothes are forgotten, lost or wet. If your child could benefit from any of the winter clothing items in the library, please reach out to the school or the SAC.

We will be hosting a second donation drive in January to fill gaps in smaller sizing, specifically JK to Grade 3. Further information on dates and drop off locations to follow after the December break, so stay tuned for that if you’re able to contribute.

Last call for spirit wear

There’s still a little time to order your Earl Haig spirit wear!

Short- and long-sleeved tees, hoodies and crew neck sweatshirts are available in a variety of colours. All items feature the NEW Eagles logo! And $8.50 of every $100 ordered by our community will be donated back to the school.

Place your order by Saturday, December 19 at midnight to make sure you don’t miss out!

Lost and found

If you missed our Lost + Found outdoor table last week and are still hoping to find something currently lost, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or the main office if there’s a specific stray item that you are looking for. Covid is upending many things, including school lost and found collections, but teachers and the school admin will do whatever they can do to help reunite kids with their missing things.

SAC Meeting Tonight

Just a reminder that our December School Advisory Council Zoom meeting is tonight from 7:00 to 8:30PM.

Topping the list of discussions: Superintendent Marc Sprack will speak to the TDSB’s response to the recent acts of hate that occurred at our school and we will also discuss ways to support our staff and students, especially BIPOC staff and students. We hope you can join us.

December SAC Meeting + Holiday Food Drive

Bonus meeting

What we are lacking in fundraising events and activities this year, we are making up for in Zoom council meetings. At next week’s council meeting, Superintendent Marc Sprack will speak to the TDSB’s response to the recent acts of hate that occurred at our school and we will also discuss ways to support our staff and students, especially BIPOC staff and students. With the school environment this year ever-changing, it is sure to be a full discussion so please join us on Tuesday, December 15th, at 7:00pm.

The full agenda and Zoom meeting info to be shared in the coming days.

Contributions welcome

This challenging year has created even greater food insecurity than ever before. To assist those in our community who may be struggling, Earl Haig will be collecting non-perishable food contributions and food gift cards until Monday, December 14th.

Please leave food items in the labelled box by the school’s front door and any food gift cards can be sent to school in your child’s backpack, to be collected by their teacher.

**Please be mindful of Covid safety measures as you donate, and also note that all items will be quarantined for 72 hours before being handled.
