What’s Happening
It’s bullying prevention awareness week at Earl Haig. Students are learning about how they can stand up to bullying and to not be a bystander. As part of this theme, the Empathy & Character Assembly will be happening this Friday at 2:20pm. Mr. Long’s class and Mr. Salsman’s class will be performing skits they specially prepared on this topic. Students are encouraged to dress up in the class colour chosen in order to Stand Up to Bullying. Talk to your children and keep the conversation going.
This weeks School Council meeting has a special guest speaker. TDSB social worker, Nina Bregman will be talking about the duty to report and Children’s Aid.

Hullabaloo Update
The Hullabaloo was an incredible success again this year. We surpassed our goal and raised $8939. That’s $2000 more than last year. Thanks to everyone who supported the event. The funds will be allocated later this year, so keep an eye on future school council agendas if you’d like to take part in the discussions. Special thanks to Chris and Stephanie for leading the charge and their dedicated committee members who worked so hard to run the event.

Special Education Support
People for Education has released a second video for parents, focusing on special education. This four minute video—generously funded by the RBC Foundation—provides an overview of the steps parents can take if they think their child may need special education.
First up – QSP: A big thank you to all parents, students, Earl Haig staff and family and friends who made the fundraiser such a success. Over $8500 was raised which means approximately $2500 in profit for the school. Enjoy your new magazines! And thank you for donating your older magazines for reuse in the classroom. Thanks to Tracy for coordinating this massive undertaking and Andria for keeping the bulletin board so beautiful.
and two tables of baked goods and honey equals a recipe for Fall Fun. 200 pumpkins were delivered in the wee hours of the morning, and all were gone by 10:00 that morning. Amazing! Thank you to everyone who bought a pumpkin or purchased baked goods and to those who volunteered their time to help out with pumpkin unloading, sales and clean up.
These parent volunteers and the School Council worked hard to raise a record breaking amount of over $1000 through the Pumpkin Patch. This money, coupled with the money raised from QSP, will go towards funding Scientists in the Schools for all grade levels, along with some much needed gym improvements. We cannot say it enough: thank you to every parent, student, staff member, friend and family member of Earl Haig for your continued generosity.
