—–Update on East Field Conditions at Earl Haig P.S.

Hi everyone,

We have a short update to share from the Admin about the East Field conditions and what’s happening right now to move us forward:

1) Earl Haig P.S. is currently on the list for artificial turf in the future. We are awaiting further clarification of how far down on the list we are and the expected timeline.

2) In the meantime, the East Field (inside the track) is on the list for a complete brand-new re-sod in June/July of 2024. They will be amending soil, repairing and upgrading the irrigation system, and applying new sod.

3) The Admin is also meeting with the TDSB Sustainability Office in the next few weeks to try and get more concrete updates and timelines about what is happening where and when, and once that happens, further updates will be shared with the community.

4) Right now – the field is being monitored and any immediate temporary fixes that can be applied are being handled by caretaking, and should there be a need to close the field for any reason, the appropriate communication will be shared and steps taken.

We know that the field condition is a key concern for many of our families right now, and as further updates become available, we will continue to share those details as soon as we can.

In response to community feedback, we will be splitting our monthly meetings into two events. We hope this greatly reduces the length of the meetings, allowing more parents and caregivers to attend for the information they most want to hear.

Each month we will hold two meetings:

1) Earl Haig P.S. School Advisory Council Planning Meeting: This is where we discuss all upcoming events and requests for funding, give the community a chance to bring forward items that they would like to be funded, and share a general update from all of our sub-committees. 

2) Earl Haig P.S. Town Hall: This is where we will hear from the School Administration and Staff about all school updates, and SAC will give a general update about upcoming events and decisions that have been made. We will then open the floor to the community to ask any questions they may have for the Admin Team and SAC.

October’s meetings are as follows:

Earl Haig P.S. SAC Planning Meeting

Earl Haig P.S. Town Hall

• When: Wednesday, October 18, 7:00pm – IN PERSON & Virtual Livestream

• Where: 15 Earl Haig Avenue (Gymnasium)

• Questions may be posted to the chat and will be read to the room.

• Childcare will be provided at the in-person meeting

• All parents, caregivers and community members are welcome to attend.

Both meetings are fully open for any parent or caregiver to attend. Minutes will be published following the meetings, and the full-year meeting schedule will be published following the October Meetings.
