Next School Council Meeting – Wednesday, February 21st

IMG_7731

We hope you will join us for our next school council meeting, taking place this Wednesday, February 21st, from 7pm to 8:30pm in the Music Room.

We will have a very special guest speaker at this month’s meeting! Ruth Bell (TDSB Principal of Safe and Caring School) will be speaking about progressive discipline — what is it? and what does it mean for your child’s classroom?

As always, the council meeting will include updates from Principal McLachlan. If you have a question, comment or suggestion you would like Principal McLachlan to address at the meeting, please visit our Questions for the Principal page and click submit before noon on the 21st.

We want to hear from you!  All adult caregivers are welcome to attend the meeting (you don’t need to be on the school council). Free childcare is available for anyone who needs it. Council meetings are a great opportunity to share your ideas of new and exciting ways to contribute to the education of students at Earl Haig.

Hope to see you there!

Calling All Cupcake Bakers!

baker-valentineBakers are needed for our annual Valentine’s Day cupcake sale on Wednesday, February 14th. All shapes, colours, and flavours of cupcakes are welcome. Feel free to get creative – the more elaborate the decorations, the faster they seem to sell!

All baked goods must be nut free. Please be sure to include a note with any further dietary considerations (i.e. wheat-free, gluten-free, dairy-free).

Please bring your cupcakes to the office on February 13th or the morning of the 14th.

The bake sale will be taking place after lunch and each delicious cupcake will cost $1. Proceeds will go towards improving the sound system in the gym.

Volunteers needed

If you can donate an hour, please consider working the cupcake table during the sale.  Click here to sign up for a shift.

Bottle Drive Cancelled

school-council-bottle-drive-CANCELLEDUnfortunately, the extreme cold temperatures are going to get the better of us. At -22 feeling like -35 degrees, it would be irresponsible to ask our good people to stand outside and sort bottles for 4 hours tomorrow.

SO: please consider bringing your bottles back as planned, tomorrow or another day, and saving the donation for the school. We will put a donation jar in the school office.
Apologies, but as we know, Mother Nature is a tough beast.

Stay warm and enjoy your weekend. School starts again Monday!
