December SAC Meeting + Holiday Food Drive

Bonus meeting

What we are lacking in fundraising events and activities this year, we are making up for in Zoom council meetings. At next week’s council meeting, Superintendent Marc Sprack will speak to the TDSB’s response to the recent acts of hate that occurred at our school and we will also discuss ways to support our staff and students, especially BIPOC staff and students. With the school environment this year ever-changing, it is sure to be a full discussion so please join us on Tuesday, December 15th, at 7:00pm.

The full agenda and Zoom meeting info to be shared in the coming days.

Contributions welcome

This challenging year has created even greater food insecurity than ever before. To assist those in our community who may be struggling, Earl Haig will be collecting non-perishable food contributions and food gift cards until Monday, December 14th.

Please leave food items in the labelled box by the school’s front door and any food gift cards can be sent to school in your child’s backpack, to be collected by their teacher.

**Please be mindful of Covid safety measures as you donate, and also note that all items will be quarantined for 72 hours before being handled.

Statement of Support

Dear Earl Haig community,

Last week we all received the email from our Superintendent Marc Sprack where he mentioned that members of our school’s staff and teaching community received racist and sexist hate mail.

As a parent and caregiver council, we want to let the affected staff and teachers know that we stand behind them 100%. Hate has no home at Earl Haig.

To our parents, caregivers and students, we want you to know that we will continue working towards dismantling anti-Black, anti-Indigenous racism, gender-based violence and queer and trans phobia.

A loving, accepting, supportive and equitable school is a joy for all students. A welcome place to learn and build friendships that will last a lifetime in our small neighbourhood.

Please join us at our school council meetings to learn more about how to support the school in its various initiatives.
