Happy first week of school to our Earl Haig families – both returning and new.
For those that are new to our school, this blog, along with the Twitter account, Facebook page, Instagram and Earl Haig School Calendar are run by volunteer efforts of the School Advisory Council (SAC). Our Facebook page is updated with the most frequency but also be sure to sign up to receive our blog posts in your email inbox so that you never miss a thing.
Back to school coffee!
Please join us tomorrow morning, Friday, September 6th, before/after the bell rings for a hot coffee. We’ll be setting up a table in both the kindergarten yard and the primary yard. The first pot of coffee should be ready by 8:30am. Stop by to say hi and don’t forget your reusable thermos!
School Advisory Council: We’d love to have you join us!
If you’re not familiar with the School Advisory Council, we are the parent/caregiver group that organizes and runs events throughout the year to bolster community spirit and raise funds. We meet most months (skipping December and March) with the administration and teacher representatives to discuss issues like facilities, extra-curricular clubs/teams, student concerns, special events, and academic issues.
You don’t need to be on the council to attend and everyone is welcome! (Childcare is provided in the Kindergarten room during the meeting.)
Our first SAC meeting is taking place on Wednesday, September 18th, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM in the Music Room and we look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting newcomers (we are a friendly bunch, promise!).
This meeting is a big one, as we will be holding elections for the 2019-2020 SAC. If you are interested in joining the executive team, take a look to see what positions we have. If you’re not interested in joining the executive, you are absolutely still welcome to join our meetings each month and there are volunteer opportunities throughout the year.
