Spring is in full swing at Earl Haig PS! There’s a lot of great things in the works and we will have so much to share with you over the coming weeks. A few updates to start us off:

Spring Festival: Help us make it great!

We are still looking for volunteers to help us with our SUPERSIZED Spring Festival on Thursday, June 6th (rain date of June 13th)!

Whether you can spare an hour (or more) volunteering at one of the stations, or you can help with the prep work before the festival, please consider lending a hand! Money raised from our Spring Festival goes towards supporting our Play EH! playground revitalization project and will benefit our kids for years to come!

Our next volunteer planning meeting will take place Sunday, April 14th (8pm to 9:30pm). If you’re interested in volunteering — whether you can make the meeting or not — please email our Festival Organizer, Jen Barnes for all the info (and the address).

Marlies update

Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts Earl Haig will not be organizing a Marlies outing this year.  Look out for our ice time next year!

April SAC meeting

Last but not least – please join us on Tuesday, April 9th from 7pm to 8:30pm in the school Music Room (basement) for our next School Advisory Council meeting. Childcare will be available.

At the meeting, you’ll hear about our many FUN upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, get an update on our PlayEH! project, hear school news from Principal Root, and – as always – you’re encouraged to share any ideas or suggestions you may have. You don’t need to be on the council to attend – everyone is welcome!

We hope everyone had a great first day back from March Break! Earl Haig PS is getting back into the swing of things quickly with our wildly popular (and delicious!) annual potluck – Food Around the World!

Put your chef’s hat on and prepare a dish to share with fellow Earl Haig families and staff. Our potluck will take place this Thursday, March 21, from 6-8pm, in the gymnasium.

Bring a dish from your cultural background or simply one that your family loves to eat. Whether it’s a main dish, salad or dessert… everything will be appreciated and enjoyed.

Please bring your own cutlery and plates and clearly label any serving dishes. Remember, all dishes must be nut-free. Please label any other special dietary considerations (gluten-free, egg-free, etc.) that your dish may include.

Afterward, Culture Shock Dance Troupe will rock our bodies and teach us some new moves!

Thank you to everyone who came out for “A Musical Night Out” on February 23. It was an evening of friends, music, food and FUNdraising. The night brought in $5,000 for Play EH!

Students are also doing their part to raise money for our playground revitalization. Last week, students raised $645 by entering our “Principal for a Day” draw. Two lucky students went behind the scenes with Mr. Root and Mr.Ng to experience a day in the life of a Principal. The enthusiasm of our students for Play EH! is contagious.
